  • Retired Army veteran Josh Allen opened Dank Burrito on April 1 at 5508 Raeford Road in Fayetteville and local customers have lined up since the grand opening—its top-selling plate is the jerk chicken burrito with punchy mango salsa. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.  The Fayetteville Observer

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday night, a driver fled after hitting a pedestrian on North Reilly Road at Telfair Drive; officers arrived around 8:45 p.m. and the victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where they died — police are investigating and have not yet identified the driver.  WRAL
  • Police reported that around 5 p.m. yesterday a man died at the College Lakes Recreation Center off Rosehill Road after being shot, and they are investigating the incident as a homicide — no motive has been determined.  WRAL
  • A man was killed in a shooting at College Lakes Recreation Center on Rosehill Road Sunday, April 13—officers found him with a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead—while police investigate the incident.  The Fayetteville Observer
  • A pedestrian died after being struck by a driver who fled North Reilly Road near Telfair Drive at about 8:30 p.m. on April 12th+ Fayetteville police say the vehicle remains unidentified.  The Fayetteville Observer
