- ➤ A body found in the Cape Fear River in downtown Fayetteville on Tuesday was identified as 51-year-old Gregory Scott Webster, a missing Fuquay-Varina man last seen on Feb. 8 when he left his home on Old Mill Road; his abandoned vehicle was found on River Bend Road and scientists located his remains around 2:30 on March 18 amid fallen trees and debris. - ➤ Fayetteville marked the bicentennial of Marquis de Lafayette's American tour by hosting historic reenactments, period dances, and themed dinners on March 4 and March 5. - ➤ Teach Me 2 Tie Inc. will host a workshop on March 22 at 5766 Rockfish Road in Hope Mills from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for fourth- and fifth-grade boys to build self-confidence and learn how to tie a tie—nonprofit founder Brandon McLean said the program will help challenge negative messages and promote positive self-talk. Josh Stein visited Ferguson-Easley Elementary on March 20 to explain his plan for schools that will raise teacher pay, add free breakfast, boost mental health support and use a $4 billion school bond to fix old, crowded buildings.
