- ➤ Fayetteville’s Ichi Kaku will host its annual Ramen Eating Contest and Block Party on Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. at 350 N. Eastern Blvd—five competitors will try to finish a five-pound bowl of ramen amid live music, food specials, and a display of Japanese sports cars—and locals can join in a festive celebration of community and culinary creativity. - ➤ Local volunteers led by Ann Provencher will place live evergreen wreaths at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery and Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg on Dec. 13—marking Wreaths Across America Day—while the campaign seeks an additional 5,210 wreaths to cover every veteran's headstone. - ➤ Cumberland Community Foundation will run a Giving Tuesday campaign from Nov. 24 to Dec. 2 to help local nonprofits with matching funds of $500,000 and training on donation processing — previous campaigns have raised over $10.6 million for critical community services. - ➤ Fayetteville Holiday Lights returns to Segra Stadium on November 28 and will run through December 31—transforming the park with over 2 million sparkling lights, festive displays, and special areas for families. - ➤ A Dickens Holiday, a 26-year downtown tradition, will take place on November 28 from noon to 9 p.m. and offer free public festivities such as artisan vendors, carriage rides and a candlelight procession starting at 5 p.m. (ticketed events like teas and special rides are also available). - ➤ Fayetteville Technical Community College was named a Top 25 cybersecurity associate degree program on Tuesday when an independent team ranked it No. 23 among 199 programs and designated it a Center of Academic Excellence (NSA and DHS) through 2028. The college also named Dr. Vikki Andrews as a new trustee after she was appointed by Cumberland County Commissioners and sworn in on November 12 (retired Army officer), and she will serve a four-year term until June 30. - ➤ Fayetteville Technical Community College’s Computer Information Technology Department offers Simulation and Game Development and Digital Media programs that teach game making, 3D design, video work, and storytelling to build needed skills. - ➤ Fayetteville officials and Cumberland County Board of Commissioners oppose Fuquay-Varina's plan to draw up to 6.17 million gallons per day from the Cape Fear River Basin — they warn it could reduce local water supplies and raise pollution — and urge residents to attend a public hearing at Fayetteville Technical Community College on December 4 at 6 p.m. CityView

- ➤ On Tuesday, November 18th, Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital earned its fifth consecutive A Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group for strong infection control and comprehensive staff training. - ➤ Karen and Andre Wynn fought cancer after being diagnosed a month apart, with Karen receiving a lumpectomy and radiation for breast cancer and Andre treating stage-two throat cancer at Cape Fear Valley Cancer Treatment — CyberKnife Center.
