- ➤ A Target spokesperson confirmed on Oct. 30 that a new 128,000-square-foot store will open near Camden and Waldo’s Beach roads in Hope Mills—adding to major developments in southwest Cumberland. - ➤ After a fatal car crash claimed the lives of three E.E. Smith seniors nearly a month ago, Cumberland County Schools provided extra mental health staff (counselors, psychologists, and social workers) to help students and staff cope with grief (with district leaders working to boost resources across 86 schools) as the community continues to process the loss.
