CULTURE NEWS

  • CityView’s 2025 Food, Wine & ART event, presented by Cape Fear Valley Health, was held from 6–9 p.m. on Oct. 9 at Cape Fear Botanical Garden and drew about 325 guests. Attendees enjoyed food, wine, vendor booths and live performances in dance, theater and music—an event that highlighted local art and culture.  CityView

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Fayetteville Observer is accepting nominations for Future Black History Makers of 2026, honoring outstanding elementary, middle and high school students from Cumberland County Schools. Nomination forms must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 23 + selected honorees will be notified in mid-December and featured online and in print beginning Jan. 30.  The Fayetteville Observer

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • State inspectors fined D.R. Allen & Son Inc. $10,398 for repeated dust control violations at its Fay Block plant after neighbors reported worsening respiratory problems—company officials must pay the fine or file for a review within 30 days.  CityView

  • UNC will face Virginia on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Kenan Stadium—kickoff is at noon on ACC Network and Virginia is favored with a predicted win of 31-22 in the 130th meeting of their rivalry.  The Fayetteville Observer
