- ➤ Fayetteville’s historic Orange Street School now hosts a Youth Music Workshop series and a state-of-the-art music studio that launched in late August—professional musician Brandon Jones led the first drumming workshop for local youth. - ➤ Methodist University’s Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education on Oct.17, which lets the school start recruiting its first class for summer 2026 and may help ease the local doctor shortage—70% of medical students tend to stay near their training area. - ➤ Alumni from the class of 1947 and current students will gather for Massey Hill High School's 100th Year Celebration on Oct. 25 at Massey Hill Classical High School on Southern Avenue, where retired city historian Bruce Daws will share the school’s history and students will perform music.
