ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Three E.E. Smith High School football players died in a crash on Rosehill Road Wednesday night— their 2024 Honda Civic ran off the road and hit a telephone pole and a tree while the lone driver was injured and police continue investigating the incident. ABC 11
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fayetteville State University was placed on lockdown just before noon on Thursday after police responded to a bomb threat that evolved into an active shooter investigation—officers lifted the lockdown just after 12 p.m. upon finding no signs of a threat, and district officials set several schools to Code Yellow as an extra safety measure. - ➤ Unofficial results from Fayetteville’s Oct. 7 primary show that 12 winners—including Mayor Mitch Colvin, Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Keefe Jensen, and Council members from Districts 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9—will advance to the general election. The Fayetteville Observer
- ➤ Fayetteville officials said they will enforce a clear bag rule at Festival Park events after council members said staff delayed safety plans set after a shooting at the Dogwood Festival in April. City Manager Doug Hewett said the rule will be used at the Dogwood Fall Festival on Oct. 18-19—meant to keep people safer. CityView
