  • SteelFab Inc. is considering a $22 million expansion on Shaw Mill Road that will add 42 jobs with an average pay of at least $66,700 and a starting wage of $59,650. Fayetteville officials approved a $327,487 grant—Cumberland County may add another $363,550—to secure the project as the company competes with offers from Virginia and South Carolina.  CityView

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Methodist University’s Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine received a $1 million grant from the Cumberland Community Foundation at its Founders & Friends event—funds that will help pay for startup costs and student scholarships. The grant supports the school’s plan to welcome its first class of 64 students in July and create more jobs in the region.  CityView

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former City Council member Tisha Waddell is running for mayor of Fayetteville to restore transparency and accountability at City Hall—she plans to secure fiscal responsibility and improve services by addressing rising taxes and stalled projects. Waddell, who served two terms from 2017 to 2021, vows to bring clear leadership that builds on her past work for first responders and neighborhood upgrades.  CityView
