- ➤ The Haymount Fall Pop-Up Market will be held Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at LWood Media Group (2000 Ft. Bragg Road) in the historic Haymount district, where local vendors, food trucks and a pumpkin painting activity will offer a day of shopping, food and family fun. Up & Coming Weekly
- ➤ On Oct. 3 from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society will host Woofstock at Cape Fear Botanical Garden to raise funds for its only no kill shelter; the event offers BBQ, craft beverages, silent auctions, and costume contests + a Rescue Row showcasing rescued pets. - ➤ North South Brewing is hosting its first annual Oktoberfest from Sept. 26 to Sept. 28 at 304 Williams Street in Downtown Fayetteville — the free event will feature special beer releases, contests, and family-friendly activities. - ➤ Fayetteville will host the 47th Annual International Folk Festival this Saturday at 10 a.m. when a Parade of Nations starts from the Market House to Festival Park—over 1,200 marchers and about 12 floats will join—while local sellers offer world food. CityView

- ➤ Fayetteville State University set a record with over 7,600 students and more than 2,500 military-affiliated students as it began its 158th academic year. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials unveiled a downtown monument in the newly named Mayor Beth Finch Park along Green Street to honor Beth Finch—Fayetteville’s first female mayor who served from 1975 to 1981—in a ceremony on Sept. 24. The Fayetteville Observer
- ➤ Fayetteville city officials announced plans to restore the historic Market House with new lighting, fresh paint, wood repairs, and interactive kiosks to share its history. The project will also expand the surrounding plaza and improve pedestrian safety with road upgrades, with construction set to begin in spring 2026 — officials will share further details later. - ➤ The Fayetteville Public Works Commission is upgrading more than 9.3 miles of sewer lines in Fayetteville and Hope Mills to be finished by 2028. Phase 1 is complete and phase 2 is underway, and the new system will remove old lift stations—making sewer service more reliable as the community grows. CityView

- ➤ Fayetteville Motor Speedway will close after five races following the sale of its 500-acre property for industrial/commercial use by Broadwell Land Company, with this season marking its final run.
