Cape Fear Regional Theatre opened its season on Saturday night with 9 to 5: The Musical, a funny and lively show based on the classic film.

Fayetteville City Council voted 8-2 on Monday to renew the city's ShotSpotter contract for $220,500 for one year, keeping the technology in key neighborhoods such as Massey Hill and the Murchison Road corridor.

Cumberland County commissioners are reviewing options for the canceled Crown Event Center site and asking residents to submit ideas for redeveloping the free parking lot in front of the courthouse via an online survey open until September 14.
The board will discuss paying the remaining $3.8M bill from preliminary construction at a meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday—guiding future development plans.
