  • Cape Fear Regional Theatre is starting today a new run of 9 to 5: The Musical—where audiences will enjoy comedy and messages of empowerment. The show runs through Sept. 28 at 1707 Owen Drive with evening and matinee performances and special preview events.  CityView

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Statewide test scores were released Wednesday morning — showing how NC schools performed after extra help was given following the pandemic. Education officials said the scores, which break results down by county and school, show that experts believe a full recovery may take years.  WRAL
  • Today, Cumberland County Schools began the academic year with 47,000 students and a new superintendent, Eric Bracy—who previously led Johnston County Schools—replacing Marvin Connelly Jr. Bracy also appointed Tonya William Leathers as chief academic officer and named new principals for Morganton Road Elementary, Luther "Nick" Jeralds Middle School, and Seventy-First Classical Middle School.  CityView

  • UNC football will play their first road game in Charlotte on Sept. 6 at Jerry Richardson Stadium, and tickets are available on secondary markets with prices ranging from $109 to $303 on one site and from $106 to $800 on another — five Charlotte players who once played for UNC add extra interest to the matchup.  The Fayetteville Observer
