- ➤ Fayetteville will host the 2025 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and Walk at Segra Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 11 with onsite registration starting at 5 p.m. and the climb beginning at 7 p.m.—the event honors FDNY heroes and raises funds for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A state trooper came under gunfire while trying to stop a speeding car on I-295 Tuesday night in Fayetteville—gunshots damaged his patrol vehicle’s front bumper and tires—prompting police and sheriff’s deputies to launch a search for the suspect. ABC 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On August 25, the board approved a pilot voucher program using $250,000 in unused pandemic funds to help homeless residents cover up to three months of rent, utility bills, and motel nights. Eligible residents will be referred by the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Continuum of Care—its six-month pilot will be evaluated for service success—and adjustments will be planned based on the results.
