- ➤ Fayetteville police said that on Aug. 15 at 5:17 p.m. officers responded to a shooting on the 1900 block of Poplar Drive—where a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds was pronounced dead—and a suspect related to the victim is in custody. The Fayetteville Observer
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Regional gas prices in our area averaged $2.92 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday—this figure has remained nearly unchanged for two consecutive weeks as prices increased about four cents since last month. Compared to a year ago when prices were 9% higher, national rates are still about 6.4% above the local average. The Fayetteville Observer
- ➤ Unemployment filings in North Carolina fell last week as claims dropped to 3,396 from 3,419 — overall jobless claims nationwide also dropped to 224,000 from 227,000. The Fayetteville Observer
