GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fort Bragg saw three command changes this summer as new leaders assumed roles at the Security Force Assistance Command, the 16th Military Police Brigade, and the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade — these rotations are part of the routine leadership updates and set the stage for further changes later in the year. - ➤ Commissioners in Cumberland County unanimously approved Jonathon Morgan as the new sheriff on August 11, and he will complete Sheriff Ennis Wright’s term until December. Morgan, the operations commander at the sheriff's office, beat other candidates including former Fayetteville Police Chief Kem Braden, Fayetteville Tech's Director of Public Safety Joseph Bailer and deputy Terry Ray. - ➤ Cumberland County commissioners unanimously appointed Major Johnathan Morgan as the new sheriff after Sheriff Ennis Wright retired in June. Morgan, who served as operations commander at the Sheriff's Office, will complete Wright's term through December 2026—his salary is set at $195,000. ABC 11
