- ➤ NC DOT announced on Saturday that it received national awards for its coordination during Hurricane Helene — winning Best Project and Best Overall Winner at the National Operations Center of Excellence Awards. The department used its advanced flood-warning system to position crews and share critical safety information on DriveNC.gov. WRAL
- ➤ Fayetteville Freedom For All is partnering with Common Cause North Carolina and Democracy North Carolina to launch a nonpartisan three-part municipal election series, beginning with the Local Matters Town Hall and Candidate Sit-In on Aug. 14 at Crossroads Church (306 McArthur Road) to collect voter questions for candidate forums on Sept. 25 and Oct. 21.
