  • Cumberland County Schools has selected 20 finalists for the 2026 Teacher of the Year and Beginning Teacher of the Year awards from its 10 attendance areas. Winners will be revealed at a school district gala on Sept. 8—each finalist represents one attendance area.  The Fayetteville Observer

SPORTS NEWS

  • UNC quarterback Max Johnson returned to practice on August 2 after a severe leg injury required five surgeries, and he said he is fully recovered and ready to compete with Gio Lopez for the starting job. He recalled his long recovery journey (he once thought he might lose his leg) as he prepared for the season.  The Fayetteville Observer
