- ➤ Cumberland County deputies investigated a possible abduction on Monday morning when three men forced a woman into a white Nissan Rogue with South Carolina plates at the Spring Lake Auto Center on Lillington Highway—one man carried her onto the vehicle while another held her as she tried to escape and the stolen SUV sped toward Harnett County. - ➤ Cumberland County agencies secured $34.6 million in state and federal funds for water projects—Fayetteville PWC received $20.5 million for a PFAS reduction facility at the P.O. Hoffer/Glenville Lake Water Treatment Plant while county government got funds to extend water service and install PFAS treatment technology. - ➤ A Duke University study shows that scrapping the state’s 70% climate goal could add $23 billion to energy bills by 2050 and risk 50,700 lost jobs.
