CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies shot and killed a man at about 10 p.m. Sunday, July 20 after the Pearce Mill Fire Department reported a firearm near a brush fire on Airline Drive and the suspect allegedly pointed his weapon on Catherine Drive; the suspect was declared dead on scene as an investigation begins.  The Fayetteville Observer
  • A man was shot by deputies after he pointed a gun at them during a brush fire on Airline Drive late Sunday—he died at the scene and the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating while the involved deputies are on leave.  WRAL
  • Fayetteville police are investigating a sexual assault after a woman said she was attacked at 5 a.m. on Saturday near East Orange Street and Cumberland Street by four unknown suspects, including a tall man in a camouflage mask and a shorter man with long dreadlocks — police urge anyone with information to contact the Special Victim’s Unit.  WRAL
