  • Fayetteville-area school districts are set to begin the 2025-26 school year soon, with Cumberland, Bladen, Hoke, Moore and Robeson districts starting on Aug. 25, while Fort Bragg and Sampson schools open on Aug. 18 + Harnett County Schools begins on Aug. 13 as registration remains open ahead of classes.  The Fayetteville Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin filed his reelection paperwork on Friday after saying he would not run again last month — he is now in his fourth term and the city's longest-serving African-American mayor.  ABC 11
  • An emergency water main repair closed a section of US-501 today between Weeks Drive and Old Durham Road—drivers can expect major delays and detours. The North Carolina Department of Transportation said crews will work for several days to complete the repairs.  WRAL
