  • Brandon Price of Habitat for Humanity said the free Construction Camp will run from July 28 to Aug. 1 at Sweet Valley Ranch—training 35 high school students in framing, electrical, plumbing, and drywall work. CULTURE NEWS

  • Greater Life of Fayetteville Inc. and I AM YOU-nique Summer Academy are presenting the Through My Eyes Celebration youth art exhibit on Saturday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 600 Orange Street — the event invites public voting for the best art piece and offers free admission; a reception with an award ceremony is scheduled for July 27 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Taste of West Africa on 116 Person Street.  Up & Coming Weekly

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cumberland County and Fayetteville will receive about $575,000 from a $720 million opioid settlement with eight drug makers to support plans addressing the opioid crisis—community input helped shape these efforts. The health department will present four proposals in August and, if approved, move to secure contracts by January.  CityView
