- ➤ Fayetteville police investigated a fatal shooting off Camden Road when officers responded at 2:02 a.m. on July 7 and found 28-year-old Tavon Donte Adams with gunshot wounds—medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The Fayetteville Observer

- ➤ Twenty candidates filed their paperwork on Monday morning for municipal elections in Cumberland County—filings come from cities including Fayetteville, Spring Lake and Hope Mills and cover offices like City Council and mayor. - ➤ Two soldiers in the XVIII Airborne Corps won the Dragon’s Lair contest by inventing an 81mm quick emplacement mount that attaches mortar systems to vehicles so troops can move faster in the field—Fort Bragg teams will work with defense companies to build and install the mount for troop use.
