  • Nash County’s Pet Connection Center held a free adoption event last Saturday that saw dozens of community members, including Lillian Cline who adopted a rescue dog named Blondie, even as a report revealed animal care violations—such as the premature euthanasia of animals and fines totaling $6,700. County officials terminated shelter supervisor Matthew Ingram and began reforms with leadership changes and on-site job interviews to address staffing shortages.  WRAL

CRIME NEWS

  • Fayetteville police said an individual was fatally shot around 3:40 p.m. June 27 in the 6500 block of Schaffer Place — the victim and suspect were known to each other — as investigators continue the probe.  The Fayetteville Observer

  • On Saturday, Fort Bragg celebrated Independence Day in Fayetteville with its Red, White and Boom Festival — the event featured parachute demonstrations, a flag ceremony and musical performances while extra security was in place due to heightened tensions in the Middle East following recent U.S. actions against Iranian nuclear sites.  WRAL
