- ➤ Fayetteville’s new community center, Way2Real, opened on Murchison Road last night as a partnership between the city and Tony Haire Ministries to offer free services like mental health, tutoring, and career prep for young people. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fayetteville police investigated a fatal shooting on Schaffer Place where a person was found shot around 3:45 p.m. on Friday—police pronounced the victim dead and are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Alrafai. WRAL
- ➤ On Friday, a two-vehicle crash on Cedar Creek Road in Fayetteville caused two deaths and left two people critically injured who were taken to a nearby hospital—police closed the road and urged drivers to find alternate routes. WRAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The NCDMV now lets customers use walk-in service at 82 driver license offices to reduce long waits and sun exposure—examiners will text customers when their turn comes and direct them to wait in cooler areas. However, offices with regular Saturday morning walk-ins are closed today and on July 5—Saturday service at 20 locations will resume on July 12 through Aug. 23, with all offices closed on July 4 for Independence Day.
