- ➤ Fayetteville police arrested Kirky Lee Brooks—32—after he barricaded himself in a home on Tinman Drive during an hours-long standoff that began at 7 a.m. Monday, June 10, and officials said there was no ongoing threat; he now faces charges of larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and obstructing an officer. - ➤ Fayetteville and nearby areas will celebrate Juneteenth with a series of events honoring African American history and cultural contributions. The SovereignCool Spring Downtown District will hold its fourth annual Juneteenth Jubilee on Saturday, June 14 at Festival Park (1335 Ray Street) from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. as other local gatherings add to the community festivities. - ➤ Cadillac Ranch will host The Showdown: Volume Two — Swing Through, a three-day dance event from June 13 to June 15 at 3101 Fort Bragg Road featuring workshops and competitions in country swing, two-step, and line dancing. Organized by 8 Count Country, the event will offer sessions on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and requires a Cadillac Ranch membership for participation.
