  • At the Scouting America Distinguished Citizens Awards Dinner on Wednesday, May 27 at FTCC’s Tony Rand Student Center, community leaders honored judge Jim Ammons and his wife Sandy while raising a record $120,000 for the organization. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cumberland County Schools will close Manchester and J.W. Coon elementaries and relocate five additional schools or programs for the 2026–27 school year following board votes; these changes will affect about 918 students districtwide (including high schools, virtual programs, and middle schools) as part of a resource consolidation effort.  The Fayetteville Observer

  • Local wildlife experts say that snakes in the Sandhills help reduce pests, though residents should be cautious around the few venomous species that exist. They advise leaving any snake undisturbed to maintain the natural balance in the area.  The Fayetteville Observer
