- ➤ On Saturday, firefighters from across North Carolina gathered at Raleigh's Nash Square to honor 13 fallen firefighters—most of whom died from cancer—in a ceremony held by the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A car ran off the road and hit a parked dump truck on NC 24/27 at Lizzie Jeter Lane in Cameron around noon on Saturday, May 10 + the car burst into flames, leaving one person dead before responders arrived. WRAL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fayetteville police are investigating after a man was shot dead Friday night near the 6400 block of Starbrook Drive — Reginald Bullard, 53, was pronounced dead and officers said there is no ongoing threat to the public. ABC 11
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Gyro Kings, a Korean and Greek restaurant at 700-02 N. Reilly Road, will reopen in two weeks with its original menu and larger portions of popular items like lamb and bulgogi gyros. Owner Sonyi Savage rebuilt the restaurant with support from her mother and landlord after an intentional arson in March 2022—restoring the space for its much-anticipated return.
