On Wednesday, April 15, Friendship House held a ribbon cutting for new 900 sqft cottages on Haymount Hill at the corner of Broadfoot Avenue and Branson Street that offer independent living for adults with disabilities.
Local leaders and supporters celebrated the milestone (the cottages honor late benefactors and local builders).

Today, Alissa Foy opened Rice, Roots and Rolls: an Asian Kitchen in Spring Lake (formerly the Orient House Chinese and Sushi location on Bragg Blvd).
Foy, a first-generation American with Cambodian roots and a former food truck operator in Wyoming, serves family recipes blending Chinese and Cambodian flavors.
A Publix grocery store under construction near Hope Mills in southwest Fayetteville is planned to include a mezzanine level (an indoor balcony) for dining and people-watching, similar to one at a Publix in Port Lucie.
The design is expected to draw local interest as a unique feature.

Mayra Draughn, a hospice nurse and educator at Valley Hospice House and FTCC, was named The Fayetteville Observer's Amazing Teacher for April today.
Her award—recognizing her focus on comfort care, hands-on learning, and clear teaching—could lead to national consideration.

Spring high school sports are back after break as voters choose among 12 nominees in the 910Preps Athlete of the Week poll for April 13-17.
