EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cumberland County Schools released a proposed $649 million budget for the 2025-2026 school year that increases supplemental pay for teachers, assistant principals, and principals. The board will review the proposal on April 24 and decide at the May 13 meeting before it goes to the county commissioners on May 15.  ABC 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported more than 500 flu-related deaths for the season, the highest total since 2009. Health officials urge early testing and treatment to help high-risk individuals avoid severe illness.  ABC 11
