- ➤ Yesterday, Cape Fear Regional Theatre broke ground on a historic expansion—doubling its capacity to 40,000 square feet and adding youth studios and a rooftop event space—with the Hay Street facility set to reopen in winter. - ➤ Fayetteville’s own J. Cole closed his final Dreamville Festival set on April 6th at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh—he delivered heartfelt performances that honored his roots as rain began to fall and he shared the stage with Erykah Badu. - ➤ House Bill 806, filed Monday, would end K-3 class-size rules that have been in place since the 2018-19 school year and let schools hire up to half unlicensed teachers—if those teachers finish required training in helping kids with disabilities and managing classroom behavior. The bill still needs half of a school's teachers to hold full licenses. WRAL

- ➤ Colorado State University forecasters predict an above-average Atlantic hurricane season later this year with 17 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes, leaving North Carolina ranked second for the risk of a tropical storm coming within 50 miles. Residents are advised to prepare for the season that runs from June 1 to November 30 — one storm making landfall can bring serious damage. The Fayetteville Observer

- ➤ T.W. Garner Food Company recalled several Texas Pete hot sauce products because the labels did not list sulfites that may cause serious allergic reactions. The items were distributed between Feb. 5 and March 26 in several states—one of which was North Carolina—and customers should dispose of them or return them for a full refund.
