- ➤ Today, the Cumberland Board of County Commissioners will hear from Scott Flowers (of the Hutchens Law Firm) regarding concerns raised on March 5 that led them to request an independent review of the $145 million Crown Event Center project and its extra $1.9 million architectural fee that triggered a 30-day moratorium. - ➤ While a statewide open burn ban was lifted earlier this week, Fayetteville still prohibits burning yard debris, trash, and construction materials since 2011 due to risks of uncontrolled fires. City fire marshal Justin McLaurin said residents planning controlled burns must first notify the Fire Marshal Office (910-433-1730) and provide details (location and purpose) to receive a permit.
