Friends and family gathered at Highland Country Club on Saturday, Feb.

21 to celebrate Steve Kulig’s life and reflect on his work in IT, athletic achievements, and acts of kindness. His wife said he would have been glad to see the love and memories shared by nearly 100 attendees.

Fayetteville displays historical markers honoring influential Black figures including author Charles Chesnutt, minister Henry Evans, abolitionist Lewis Leary, senator Hiram Revels, and scholar Omar Ibn Said.

The markers in downtown and local neighborhoods invite residents to explore the city’s rich cultural legacy for Black History Month.

A new collection of 50 archived photos from July 1976 shows local moments and community life, including kids and public events in Fayetteville (a vivid snapshot of the town’s history) that offers residents a look back at everyday scenes from the past.

Fayetteville PWC announced that electricity rates will rise this spring after a board vote (at the Public Works Commission).

The changes will increase rates gradually over two years, with residential customers using 1,000 kWh per month paying about $8 more starting in May and a bit more in May 2027.
