- ➤ The YMCA of the Sandhills will host the 2026 Summer Camp Kickoff on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fayetteville YMCA and Saleeby Family YMCA in Cameron, offering families a chance to preview camp activities and teen programs before registration opens March 3 at 8:30 a.m. Up & Coming Weekly

- ➤ Bob Pinson, the Arts Council CEO, is set to end his 15-year tenure on June 30 and will support a handover to his successor, Kennon Jackson Jr., who has served as chief of staff. Pinson said he is looking forward to new opportunities while remaining a supporter of local arts. CityView
- ➤ J. Cole’s new album, The Fall-Off, is a heartfelt tribute to Fayetteville that names local landmarks and celebrates hometown pride. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Community members can weigh in on proposed school closures and consolidations at a town hall meeting today at 6:30 p.m. at Cliffdale Community Church in Fayetteville, where officials will discuss plans that include closing nine schools, building three new ones, and ending year-round classes. The Fayetteville Observer
- ➤ Recent data shows that about 30% of Cumberland County Schools students are chronically absent, with higher rates among economically disadvantaged and special needs students. The district updated its attendance policy in 2025 and is expanding mental health support to help improve attendance (with interventions tailored to diverse challenges). CityView

- ➤ Fayetteville PWC has proposed a 6.5% electric rate increase that would add about $8+ to a 1,000 kWh bill in May if approved.
