- ➤ Cumberland County Schools announced that today’s classes will be asynchronous due to icy road conditions — district offices will reopen on a two-hour delay and Fayetteville Technical Community College will operate remotely with staff starting at 10 a.m. The Fayetteville Observer
- ➤ Douglas Byrd Middle School social studies teacher Manzell Spencer Jr. was named the 2026 Sandhills Regional Teacher of the Year in January (after winning Cumberland County Schools’ Teacher of the Year in September) and will compete for the statewide award in April in Cary. CityView

- ➤ Due to hazardous road conditions after winter storms, the NCHSAA Board postponed all state swimming and diving events originally scheduled from Feb. 4 to Feb. 7 to Feb. 11 to Feb. 14 and rescheduled indoor track championships along with boys dual team and girls wrestling playoffs.
