  • Redeploying American Veterans plans to build a tiny home village for unhoused veterans in Fayetteville with wraparound services such as mental health care and job training; City Council is working on zoning and land opportunities for one of two city-owned sites + county support.  The Fayetteville Observer
  • Fayetteville’s annual MLK parade is postponed due to conflicting committee explanations — some citing safety and others pointing to planning challenges. Originally set for Jan. 17, the event has no new date yet.  CityView
  • Jerome T. Scott (The Insurance Guy) will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at 11 a.m. on Feb. 12 at Cape Fear Botanical Garden during the Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations awards, recognizing his leadership in uniting groups and promoting inclusion.  CityView

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Unemployment claims in NC increased from 1,921 to 3,039 for the week ending Jan. 3, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Nationally, jobless claims rose by 8,000 to 208,000, indicating an overall uptick in filings.  The Fayetteville Observer
